Read the Parent Letter from Principal Hook
Dear Students, Parents and Guardians:
It is my pleasure to welcome you back to Bethune-Bowman Middle/High School. The teachers and staff join me is saying how happy we are to have you as part of the Bethune-Bowman Middle/High Family. We are looking forward to a successful and satisfying year for both you and your child.
Registration for the 2009-2010 school year will be held on Monday, August 3rd through Wednesday, August 5th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Late registration and registration for New Enrollees will be held on Thursday, August 6th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
ALL STUDENTS MUST REGISTER BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. NO STUDENT WILL BE ALLOWED TO ENTER SCHOOL WITHOUT COMPLETING THE REGISTRATION PROCESS. You will need to bring
Proof of Residency (a copy of your utility bill and your driver's license). If your child has not attended Bethune/Bowman Middle/High School before, you must also bring a copy of his/her birth certificate, South Carolina immunization card, and the child's social security card as well as a withdrawal form from the previous school. These are required by state law.
In order for your child to receive his/her class schedule, he/she must complete the registration process. Included in this process is payment for the 2009-2010 school registration fees of $35.00 and any and all outstanding fees from the previous year(s) Only Cash and/or Money Orders will be accepted.
Your child will receive a Bethune/Bowman Bookbag, which will include a three ring binder, a spiral notebook, a pack of loose leaf paper, pencils, and pens. Your child will also receive an agenda, an ID, a computer jump drive, and a student locker.
During the registration process, you will also be required to completely fill out several forms, including the free/reduced lunch application. If you do not wish to apply for free/reduced lunch, simply write "PAY" on the application, sign it, and turn the form in. Please also note that schedules can only be changed prior to the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year. Schedules will only be changed for legitimate reasons with the approval of the principal.
We also need your assistance with the enforcement of the following:
*Students must wear their ID badges at all times. All badges must be visibly worn around the neck. The ID badge is required to check out books from the Media Center, to receive meals, and for easy identification of Bethune/Bowman Middle High students. The initial ID badge will be given to each student. Students who misplace or lose their ID badge will have to pay a $5.00 replacement fee for each additional card and $1.00 each for a replacement pouch and lanyard. Students who report to school without an ID will be given a temporary ID card and will be charged $1.00 for every day a temporary ID is issued.
*All high school students planning to drive to school must pay a parking fee.
The Parking Fee is $20.00 and must be paid before picking up your child's schedule. Additionally, a Driver's Registration form along with proof of driver's license must be completed and submitted to Ms. Lavern Butler before a parking decal is given to the student. Any car parked on campus without a BBMHS parking decal will be towed. Please note that student parking is limited and will be issued on a first come first served basis.
*It is mandatory that all BETHUNE-BOWMAN MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS wear uniforms during the 2009-2010 academic school year. All middle school students must wear their uniforms daily beginning the first day of school until the end of the school year. *ACADEMIC ATTIRE FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FOR THE 2009-2010 ACADEMIC SCHOOL YEAR IS AS FOLLOWS: ALL PANTS (FOR BOTH MALES AND FEMALES) MUST BE WORN AT THE NATURAL WAIST LINE WITH A BELT ON A DAILY BASIS. ALL SHIRT TAILS (FOR BOTH MALES AND FEMALES) MUST BE TUCKED IN THE PANTS DAILY.
Please talk with your children and encourage them to abide by the school's student academic attire policy throughout the 2009-2010 school year.
Again, class schedules
WILL NOT be issued to students until the registration process is completed. The process includes payment of all new and outstanding fees, and submission of a completed lunch application.
Please also note that our annual Back-to-School Bash will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. in the gymnasium. This is a combined effort with Bethune-Bowman Elementary School to give all parents, guardians, and community members the opportunity to meet and greet the staff at both schools.
